Mortgage Life and Disability Insurance – Why you need it!
As a mortgage broker in Calgary, it is my fiscal responsibility to offer all my clients mortgage life and disability insurance. It is not mandatory to take however if my client does not have any other type of insurance in place, I strongly encourage him/her to take it. We don’t like to discuss death or disability but it is a fact of life. I always ask my clients, “If you were to become disabled and not be able to work, would you still be able to continue making your mortgage payments?” and, “If you were to pass away, would your family or spouse be able to continue to make the mortgage payments without your income?”. Mortgage insurance would cover your mortgage payments if you were to become disabled or pay off your outstanding mortgage balance if you were to pass away.
